Online Therapy

What to expect in an online therapy session
Online therapy can feel a little unfamiliar if you haven’t tried it before. The good news? You don’t need to do much to prepare — just a few little things can help you feel comfortable and settled.
A few things to have ready:
-A comfortable, quiet space where you can speak freely and feel safe. Somewhere private, where you’re unlikely to be interrupted, is ideal.
-A reliable internet connection and a device with a working camera and microphone.
Time and space for yourself. Allow yourself to arrive and to avoid having to rush straight into your next commitment.
--Tissues and a glass of water (or cup of tea). Emotions can show up in unexpected ways, and sometimes a sip of water or a tissue is just what you need.
Art supplies, if we're having an art therapy session. Have your chosen materials nearby so you can explore, create and express yourself without needing to search for that missing pencil halfway through!
Online therapy: a safe space for you… and occasionally, a cat. 🐾
During one session, my cat decided it was the perfect time to join us, settling in beside me as though they were the second therapist. Apparently, supervision is very important in this line of work!
The most important thing to remember is that you don’t need to have everything figured out before you arrive. You don’t need to know exactly what to say, or how to feel. Just come as you are.
Online therapy offers a space for you to pause, reflect and be heard — from the comfort of your own surroundings.
At A Counselled Life, we can work together to find what feels right for you.
